Is Fubuki, or Japanese for Snowstorm, the Best Boot for Winters in Canada?

In 2016, Kalle Norman, a Swedish student at the time, was on a ski trip to Japan. Day after day, he saw ski resort employees and locals wearing big orange boots, starkly contrasting against the snowy landscapes of Hokkaido. Intrigued by these big bright boots, he managed to obtain a pair, and for Kalle, it was love at first sight. The boots were light, warm, comfortable and waterproof—everything one could dream of before and after a day on the mountain.

Back in Sweden, Kalle was convinced of the quality and functionality of his new boots so he made contact with the company that produced them and managed to import a hundred pairs; an immediate success! He then partnered with his friend Christofer Ljunggren, and that's when Fubuki, or snowstorm in Japanese, officially came to life.

A few hundred pairs of boots later, the two young entrepreneurs were riding high. That's when they faced a major challenge: the production factory from which they imported their boots was partially flooded and damaged by a typhoon. They learned that the factory would likely not continue its operations, but they still managed to obtain the manufacturing plans for the boot, allowing them to continue the development of the product.

Today, Fubuki boots sell by the thousands and are a symbol of après-ski fashion and a must-have to endure, or enjoy, winter.

Niseko 2.0Fubuki Bulle

The Niseko 2.0, available in both high and short versions, is the latest evolution of the original concept that Kalle discovered in 2016. Inspired by northern Japanese work boots, it is made of a 100% waterproof EVA exterior, a polyester inner lining for warmth, a treaded sole, and a skirt with a strap to prevent snow from getting into your boots.Whether spending the day outdoor at the chalet, shoveling your driveway, or running a last-minute errand in the midst of Canada's winter cold, Fubuki is your go-to, both for the style and comfort it'll afford you.

In Canada, just like Sweden and Japan, we get massive snowfall. Don’t let winter stand in your way, come by our store to try on your pair or visit our online shop to see all of our inventory of colors and sizes available for the Niseko 2.0, high and short!
